AKILAM is a collection of one of a kind handmade items by Asa Malika Barishman, a local Chicago Designer. Bored with the current trends, Asa Malika learned how to sew in highschool when she saw an article in Seventeen Magazine on how to upcycle clothing to wear. A few years later Asa Malika would go on to study Fashion Design at Columbia College Chicago where her love of fashion continued to grow. AKILAM became the name of her senior thesis collection of clothing. Asa Malika decided to make take away gifts for her buyers critique (a wallet and jewelry). AKILAM was born that Spring 2000 when Asa Malika Barishman debuted her collection of handbags, necklaces, earrings, and hair adornments to rave reviews at her first trunk show followed by store placements. AKILAM LEATHER followed in Spring of 2005. In Winter of 2008 Asa Malika Barishman and her husband Jason brought their twins home and knew they wanted to cloth diaper, but didn't like that the diapers on the market were all made of polyester or synthetic fibers. Asa Malika Barishman started little b hiney, a company specializing in cotton cloth diapers & wipes for your baby, and toddler clothing for boys & girls. AKILAM CLOTHING was officially introduced Fall 2010. All items are either upcycled- or adhere to the AKILAM CLOTHING low waste policy- even the scraps are used! OFF THE CUFF JEWELRY is a collection of one of a kind jewelry designed by Jason Barishman, a local Chicago Artisan Silver Designer. Jason has been creating jewelry and other art since 1990. Each piece of jewelry is made of hand picked natural materials, unique stones, or antique watch parts. Most pieces are made of Sterling Silver with some pieces also featuring copper and brass. Off the Cuff Jewelry is designed for Men and Woman and are ideal for anyone wanting to express themselves through jewelry. Jason has a fascination for Antique Pocket Watches, Precious (emeralds, rubies, sapphires etc and also semi precious..) and hand carved Yak bone skulls. Jason's design concept is that fathers/husbands can still be edgy, hip and cool while raising a family. Each piece of Off the Cuff Jewelry is unique, one of a kind, and 100% handcrafted by Jason Barishman.

AKILAM STUDIO ships USPS, unless it is cheaper through another carrier for the particular item, or per your request.
All items are each HANDMADE so the shipping times depend on what you purchase. most items 2-4 weeks max(much sooner if in stock), but custom orders can be 6-8 weeks. if you have any questions about the availability or shipping time for an item you would like to buy, please ask before your purchase.
Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policies:
I do want to ensure that my customers are happy with their purchases and I will go above and beyond to make that happen. If you have any concerns upon receipt of your item, please contact me right away to resolve the situation.

NO REFUNDS. EXCHANGE ONLY with in 7 days. Item must be in unworn/unused condition.
JUST IN CASE: All AKILAM STUDIO purchases come with a 30 day (from purchase) quality craftsmanship guarantee. please contact me to either fix the problem or replace your item (at AKILAM STUDIO'S discretion) within that 30 day period.

If you have any problem with faulty snaps, loose velcro or shot elastic, please contact me to fix the problem within the 60 day period. All little b hiney cloth diaper sales are final sales. If you are placing a large diaper order, please try one diaper first to be sure the sizing is right for your baby (or measure your child first), once they are purchased, the items belongs to you. NO REFUNDS, NO RETURNS.
